"What's up, Wagonmaster? Did another wheel break, or...?"

Profile

Teah is the only surviving child of a famous Shantanian blacksmith. Though the blacksmith was born Caynean, he traveled Shantania and ran his smithy in every major nation before eventually settling in a village in Riga. The blacksmith had four children, all of which he had deemed would be successors to his craft, but only Teah accepted the task. When King Dmitrius' orders to disarm came in, Teah's father set to work on converting swords and axes into farming equipment. A sudden bandit attack claimed the lives of Teah's whole family, leaving her as the sole heir to the smithy and its tools.

As the official blacksmith of The Wagontrain, Teah's job often has her working on all manner of tools, weapons, and parts. Most commonly, she is found working on wagon wheels and axles, but a lot of her work winds up being used in combat some way or another. She does not always participate in battles, but is always available to work on weapon upgrades. She is the most no-nonsense member of the performing troupe, and does not tend to joke around with her comrades. In between her smithing duties, Teah plays a ceremonial drum for stage performances, alongside Jasmine's sword dances and Helena's singing.

Mechanics

Rather than pay for new weapons or repairs to weapons like in a Fire Emblem game, weapons may be upgraded in two ways. Having Teah sharpen a weapon will increase all of its base stats by some amount, but the sharpened weapon only lasts for a certain number of uses, similarly to Fire Emblem's weapon durability system. Sharpening is much cheaper, and has no limits on how many times it can be done per chapter. Forging a weapon, however, is more expensive, yet permanent, and the player may choose which stats to improve. Between battles, only a certain number of weapons may be Forged during one intermission. The forge does not take effect until the next chapter starts, so the forge queue may be altered as the player deems fit, and will only be made permanent when the battle begins. Other blacksmith characters may be recruited, though, expanding the forge queue and potentially enabling Teah to fight.

Teah may also be drafted to appear in battle; this may only be done if she does not have anything in the Forging queue. If she fights, her weapon is her blacksmithing hammer, a Strength-based weapon that is effective against armor but not much else. Teah cannot upgrade her own hammer except by Sharpening; Forging only becomes available if there is another blacksmith in the party.
