Ravi

"Do not interrupt me while I am working! This is delicate machinery! I'll never get this device fixed now!"

Ravi, a Lestalian elf, is a secretive and slightly rude tinkerer who joins Lynia's party late in the game. While he has much of his own custom gadgetry at his disposal, he is reluctant to display or even use it in the presence of others. He claims that he once had a bad experience with the current Margrave. He does not fully trust anybody, not even his sister, Tiva (especially not his sister, who means well, but brought all these Caynean royals to his doorstep and expected him to be hospitable to them!).

Ravi is the only known descendant of Lestalia's Margrave Kaze Tirell. Despite being betrayed by his own father for his mechanical breakthroughs, Ravi feels that it is up to him to succeed the Tirell line by continuing his engineering work. There is no demand for his work, because he does not make himself known, but this is all the better, as that means fewer people to bother him. Incidentally, Ravi did support Lestalia's shift to isolationism during his father's reign, but for selfish reasons (fewer people to bother him), and not for the good of the March.

Mechanics

Ravi's signature weapon is the Combustion Bow, his Skill-based custom rifle that uses gunpowder to fire heavy metal balls. It has a range of 1-4 tiles, but due to the intensive nature of reloading, aiming, and firing, he cannot move and attack on the same turn, and cannot counter-attack unless his speed is at least double that of his attacker (or if he has not attacked in the previous turn). If he gets in good with Ruby, both of them will be inspired to borrow elements of each others' weapons, so the Combustion Bow will gain a spear head under its barrel for melee fighting, while Ruby's spear will gain a rifle barrel.

Skills

  • Extra Charge - If Ravi has not reloaded or moved this turn, the extra time he spends aiming before firing will enable him to attack up to 5 tiles' range instead of just 4.
  • Fix Bayonets - Attacks at 1 or 2 tile range become Strength-based melee attacks if Ravi has not reloaded this turn. (Only with Ruby's support.)
