"There is precious little we can do for the outside world. They are greedy, self-insufficient. We have no business providing for them."

Kaze Tirell, the previous Margrave of Lestalia, was a Lestalian Elf who detested his country's immigration policy. He represented the fifth generation of Clan Tirell, a powerful noble family dating back to Lestalia's earliest years, with roots (and connections) in the Lestalian Senate. Over time, Clan Tirell's influence over the Senate faded, but eventually, the Senate unexpectedly approved Kaze Tirell's campaign for the Margrave's seat.

Kaze was known to be a gifted tinkerer. Though Lestalia had known how to create mechanical clocks for decades, it was Kaze who worked to miniaturize them.

Kaze Tirell had a wife, a Lestalian common woman named Alshain, who bore him a son named Ravi. Kaze took it upon himself to personally educate his son in the ways of mechanics, and afterwards sent him to the prestigious Lestalian Mechanick School when he had turned 16.

Around S.R. 548, Kaze decreed that Lestalia no longer desired to stick their noses in the other countries' affairs, and would be enacting an isolation policy. There would be no more trading in and out, and the entrance to the Great Cavernous City would be collapsed to prevent entry or exit. At this time, a young Calayus Denivan led a protest movement against isolation. Some Lestalian Elves emigrated to the Independent Zone and elsewhere. Kaze's plans were not to be formally set in motion, though, as the Senate came to a stalemate vote - five in favor, five opposed. Soon, however, Kaze Tirell would "disappear" - because closing the country to outsiders would prove to be Lestalia's own downfall as well as negatively affect the livelihood of other countries' exporting businesses, The Finders issued a removal order on Kaze Tirell. This order was carried out with no witnesses and no trail. Tirell's successor, by popular vote of the Senate, was to be the leader of the protest movement, Calayus Denivan. Meanwhile, Ravi was left to live on his own, outside the comforts of the Margrave's manor, a fact that Ravi resents to this day.
