"What I do up there isn't dancing, it's a war rehearsal. I hate how many people feel like it's something beautiful to watch. If it wasn't keeping us all fed, I'd give it up in an instant."

Profile

Jasmine is one of the members of the performing troupe that is part of Brenick's wagon train. Her specialty is sword-dancing; what her many fans don't realize is that the tulwar she uses in her stage performances is actually a real weapon with a keen edge, and that she is quite skilled in its use in battle. Her dances are primarily derived from actual combat, with some moves being reminiscent of famous fencing duels from throughout the land. She also has a special performance themed after Gregor Caynea's legendary duel with the demon Kasiell, for which she has yet to come up with a proper finale.

However, not all is song and dance to Jasmine. Before being discovered by Brenick, Jasmine was a born mercenary, literally born into a company of vicious sellswords whose specialty was quashing rebel uprisings. At 17, she had been assigned a contract to exterminate a dangerous band of Rigans, a contract that paid per kill, and upon discovering that said Rigans were a family of young children seeking to escape from the terrors of war, she defaulted on her contract and was disgraced by both her employers and her family. Now declared an outcast from her company, she was then discovered by Fortune-Giver, and Brenick recruited her as a dancer when he noticed that her fighting style was quite hypnotic to watch.

Mechanics

Jasmine's stats and overall handling are reminiscent of a typical Fire Emblem Myrmidon, with very high Speed and Skill ratings, but relatively low Defense and magic resistance. Her tulwar is a Strength-based weapon.

Skills

  • Dervish - Trigger chance based on Skill; randomly changes a dodged melee-range attack into an instant counter-attack, dealing 50% of the damage that the attacker would have dealt, immediately followed by Jasmine's regular counter-attack if applicable. Works only within melee range.
