Profile

Margrave Calayus Denivan, born in the year S.R. 530, originally came to Lestalia from a small town in the Independent Zone at age 8. At 10, Calayus realized Lestalia's isolationist attitude was limiting their growth and lifespan. Calayus joined Lestalian Foreign Legion at 15. Not much happened of note during his campaign, so rather than gaining combat skills, he instead spent his time learning how to maintain the machines.

At 19, Calayus rallied Lestalian citizens to protest Kaze Tirell, the current Margrave, who planned to enforce an isolation policy on the country by caving in the only entrance to the Great Cavernous City. Two months after the protests began (S.R. 549), Margrave Tirell disappeared amid mysterious circumstances (thought to be the work of The Finders). As Tirell lacked a proper successor, the Lestalian Senate elected Calayus Denivan to take over duties as reigning Margrave. Calayus was sworn in as Margrave the next month, on his twentieth birthday, and has ruled Lestalia ever since.

During his rule, Calayus has worked to reverse some of the potentially destructive changes by Margrave Tirell. Though some purists believe Tirell was a better fit to rule the Grand March, most do not mind that Calayus is human and not elven. The Lestalian Senate tends to agree with Calayus 90% of the time.

At the age of 45, Calayus married Sylviss, a fellow human living in Lestalia, and she was declared Marchioness the year after.

During Lynia's journey, she appeals to Calayus for military assistance to fight off an impending attack by her own kingdom. Initially, Calayus refuses, but soon learns that he has little choice, as Lestalia is immediately brought under siege by forces in pursuit of Lynia and The Wagontrain. After the siege is broken, Calayus apologizes to Lynia, and drafts himself along with his wife to assist in the rebellion.

Mechanics

Calayus is equipped with a variant on Ravi's invention, the Combustion Bow, albeit a much smaller and more concealable version intended only for self-defense. It is subject to the same loading-and-firing limitations as Ravi's, in that if the weapon is fired during Player Phase, it cannot be used to counter-attack during Enemy Phase. However, since it is a smaller and more manageable weapon than Ravi's, Calayus is not required to stand still to reload it. On the other hand, though, its range is limited to 2 tiles maximum, and damage potential is much lower.

Skills

  • Point Blank - Critical hit chance increases when Calayus is at closest possible attack range.
